How I Knew it was Time to Take Action
Have you ever been paralyzed by fear?
I have.
I was nearing the end of our 19th year of marriage when I realized that the heaviness I carried each day had quietly become routine.
You know… like brushing your teeth, washing your face, sipping your coffee—and arguing with your husband.
I had become masterful at muting the whispers telling me it was time to leave. What once united us was no longer a shared dream. We had simply grown apart.
You know the importance of maintaining mutual—and self—respect in any relationship. But I watched ours diminish more with each passing day.
I was afraid to leave.
And afraid to stay.
More than that, I was afraid of waiting until all respect was gone.
With a knot of fear in my stomach the size of a supermarket cash register, I made my move. Our 20th anniversary marked the day of our divorce.
We often ignore that whisper of courage—the one urging us to trust our ability to navigate what’s on the other side.
But here’s what I know now:
Reinvention doesn’t require permission.
It requires one brave moment at a time.
In my 60 years of life across 4 continents, I’ve learned this journey of reinvention well.
And it always begins with one step: finding the courage to begin again.
I help women over 50 do exactly that.
If you're an empty nester, divorced, or recently retired, know this—there is so much more waiting for you.
It’s in that whisper you’ve been muting.
Come on, Sis. Be brave. Listen. 💜
